Step 02 — Redesign · Performance Architecture Methodology
The Friction Map tells you what to fix. The Labs are how you fix it.
Four focused redesign sprints across the year, each targeting the structural conditions identified in your Friction Map as highest priority. Expert-guided. Behavioural science applied directly to the architecture of your organisation. Not workshops. Not training. Structural redesign.
Knowing what's broken and knowing how to fix it are different challenges. The Labs address the second one.
A Friction Map tells you, with precision, which structural conditions are suppressing performance and which redesign moves would release the most. What it cannot do is make those redesign moves for you. That requires expert input, behavioural science applied to your specific context, and the sustained attention to work through structural change properly.
The Performance Architecture Labs are designed for organisations that have done the diagnostic work and are ready to act on it. Each sprint takes one or two of the highest-priority domains from the Friction Map and works through a structured redesign process - using neuroscience to identify not just what needs to change, but how to design that change so it holds.
“Most redesign efforts fail not because the new design was wrong, but because the process of getting there did not account for the structural conditions that would resist it.”
Three redesign sprints. One year. Expert-guided, built on your Friction Map.
The Performance Architecture Labs are structured as three focused sprints across a twelve-month period. Each sprint targets one or two of the highest-priority friction domains from your Friction Map, applies behavioural science to design a specific structural change, and produces a tested, implementable redesign recommendation.
WHAT EACH SPRINT INVOLVES:
- Pre-sprint briefing: reviewing the relevant Friction Map findings and agreeing the specific structural conditions the sprint will address
- Expert-guided redesign session: working directly with your team to design the structural change, applying behavioural science to ensure the redesign works with the brain
- Implementation support: helping your team translate the redesign into specific, testable changes to how the organisation operates
- Sprint review: assessing what changed, what held, and what informs the next sprint
The four sprints are sequenced to build on each other. By the end of the year, the organisation has made three targeted structural improvements to the domains that were suppressing performance most.
Structural redesign that pays for itself in recovered capability.
Three targeted structural improvements across the year, against the ongoing cost of suppressed capability in a single quarter. The Labs are designed to recover capability the architecture was preventing from reaching the work.

Priced on scope
Enterprise Labs engagements are scoped to the number of domains being addressed, the size of the teams involved, and the complexity of the structural changes required.
Organisations that have the Diagnostic behind them and are ready to act on what it found.
The Performance Architecture Labs work best for organisations with a Friction Map already in hand. The Labs use that evidence to drive the redesign, rather than starting from scratch. If your organisation has not yet done the Diagnostic, that is the right starting point.
